RIT's Alternative Break Program allows students to engage in direct service in collaboration with communities around the world. Students who participate spend five to nine days learning about critical challenges facing communities, interacting with local leaders, and performing short-term projects with community agencies.
Since its inception in 2010, the Alternative Break program has:
- Engaged 540 student volunteers
- Logged 12,860 hours of service
- Served 25 cities
- Had $304,450 total economic impact
In 2025, 40 Tigers will be traveling to perform service in the following areas:
- Puerto Rico: Supporting local communities in restoration of protected lands and an immersion in local culture
- Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity: Building homes and supporting the community in Punta Gorda, Florida
- American Hiking Society: Protected Land Policy in Cloudland Canyon State Park, Georgia
Students who participate in the service trips are responsible for funding their trip costs which include airfare, ground transportation, food, lodging, and other expenses the trip may incur. All gifts go directly to the Alternative Break Program to support student travel costs for this year and in the future.
Make your gift to Alternative Break today and help our students impact the world!
