Annual gifts to the RIT Fund (formerly Area of Greatest Need) provide the critical resources necessary for the university to meet its most immediate needs. Endowment spending only covers about four percent of the annual operating budget but truly unrestricted support provides university leadership the flexibility to prioritize the needs of our students. RIT Fund gifts provide resources that allow university leadership to take advantage of unanticipated academic and student life opportunities, make life-changing international experiences accessible, offer powerful career-building and research programs, and react to numerous unforeseen challenges our students face.
The following are some examples of how gifts to the RIT Fund can be put to use:
- Creates the ability for a student to overcome unexpected financial hardship due to employment loss, death of a family member, or other dire circumstances impacting the student or the family
- Gives a student the opportunity to attend world-class conferences and learn from world leaders in innovation and entrepreneurship
- Enables students to participate in programs like WOCHA and MOCHA (Wo/Men of Color, Honor, and Ambition), where they develop leadership skills through professional mentoring and networking opportunities
