Who is the American Welding Society at RIT?
Founded in the spring of 2024 by a small group of students, our club now boasts over 100 members! Since our founding, we have supported students in fabricating various projects, most notably a FAB Table for the A-Level Maker space in the SHED and a Storage Cart for the Golisano 1190 Lab Space.
Our mission is to increase accessibility to the welding experience, allow members to gain hands-on knowledge, and build a community that supports student curiosity, interest, and passion. Whether someone is an art student interested in making a metal sculpture or an engineering student who hopes to learn more about CAD or fabrication, our club hopes to provide space for anyone with a genuine interest in welding.
We have seen explosive growth for a newly founded club, and we are constantly striving to meet the expectations of our members. We have hosted guest speakers, done factory tours, attended a AWS Leadership Summit, and supported engineering & art projects alike. We are currently supporting over 30 members in fabricating pre-made projects such as a pencil holder or a wall planter! We hope to continue our mission through your support!
