Who is Queer N' Color?
RIT's Queer N' Color club is an organization dedicated to providing a place of safety and empowerment for queer students of color on campus while also spreading information on queer identity and its interaction with racial identity. From providing a safe space for members to discuss their personal problems, to hosting events and building community, we aim to provide a second family for students whose intersecting marginalized identities can make it difficult for them to navigate college life. This is especially important because people of color and queer people often have difficulty.
Every year as a celebration of the culture which we all share, this club partners with local organizations to host a Kiki ball, an event that plays an important part in Black and brown queer culture. Guests can dance and party with one another while walking competitors walk the makeshift runway and serve their hottest looks. All proceeds raised will go towards future events and community building.
